ScaleUpHub: Our new UK collaboration to boost business growth

Nobody can build the energy market of the future alone. It’s for that reason that a crucial part of our mission at innogy Innovation Hub is to provide a platform for co-creation, collaboration, and convergence. We actively promote collaboration between, and provide partnership opportunities for, disruptive businesses; providing access to in-depth knowledge, networks, and resources to co-create the future.

That’s why we are very excited to announce our latest partnership in the UK to support start-up growth. We are partnering with Telefónica Open Future’s Wayra UK to create the ScaleUp Hub UK programme.

What is the ScaleUp Hub?

The ScaleUp Hub is based in London and is dedicated to helping technology start-ups and scale-ups accelerate their journeys to success in topics such as future energy, urban solutions, customer experience, and connected technologies. Three cohorts lasting four months each will run throughout the year with 12 companies in each cohort.

What makes this programme different from a conventional accelerator?

ScaleUp Hub offers expertise from the world’s best performing accelerator, direct connections to ease the start-ups’ transition into the UK market, and a network full of experts and investors who are passionate about supporting innovation.

“At the innogy Innovation Hub, we’re always striving to provide funding, mentoring, and a co-creation platform for technologies and businesses that have the potential to shape the energy market of the future. The UK is a key market for our portfolio companies, and we’re thrilled to partner with Wayra to create jobs and growth through the development of new market leaders in emerging technologies.” - Annemie Ress, Managing Director for innogy Innovation Hub.

What is Wayra UK?

As the venture arm of Telefónica, Wayra is tasked with scaling start-ups. Its ‘best in class’ accelerator programme currently supports around 70 companies a year in six other locations, providing advice and mentorship to take ideas through to investment. Over the last seven years Wayra UK’s has invested and supported 180 companies and helped to raise over $237 million in third party funding for companies currently valued at $835 million.

At Wayra, we scale start-ups. Partnering with innogy Innovation Hub is, therefore, a great fit for us, because this programme is focused on helping more mature start-ups to scale via Telefónica and innogy. I can’t wait to begin.
