The energy market has seen rapid changes in recent years with the rise of renewables, decentralization of the energy system, regulatory uncertainties, disruptive new technologies and more proactive consumer engagement. innogy was founded in response to these fundamental changes and now – in partnership with other global utilities - seeks promising start-ups to co-create innovative solutions for the future energy system and beyond. "Free Electrons", a brand new global energy start-up accelerator launches on 9 January 2017 - and innogy is delighted to be the initiator and a founding member. The program seeks to recruit energy start-ups to drive the next generation of ideas in clean energy, energy efficiency, e-mobility, digitization, and on-demand customer services.
innogy is the initiator and one of eight global founders
innogy gave the initial impulse for Free Electrons which is now run by eight international utilities who together provide access to 73 million customers worldwide: AusNet Services, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), ESB (Electricity Supply Board), EDP (Energias de Portugal), Origin Energy, Singapore Power (SP), Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and innogy. Two accelerator partners, New Energy Nexus and Swissnex San Francisco will provide additional support to ensure a successful journey.
