Visualix introduces visual mapping and positioning service with an Augmented Reality cloud for enterprise
Easy-to-use 3D localization on mobile devices without beacons and markers for large-scale Augmented Reality in logistics, factories and retail
Berlin, November XXth, 2018 (dp). The German-based technology startup Visualixlaunched the first Enterprise Augmented Reality Cloud with an easy-to-use visual mapping and positioning system during the Augmented World Expo in Munich. Visualix’s service enables enterprises to scan large-scale environments in 3D, provides localization without any additional hardware such as beacons or markers, and allows navigation and asset tracking with pinpoint accuracy in real-time.
Logistics companies, retailers, as well as any factory or plant benefit from optimized navigation, faster warehouse pick-up and personalized customer guidance. With the Visual Mapping and Positioning System, enterprises can map large-scale environments in minutes by using the Visualix scanner app. Customers can use the Visualix Content Management System to optimize workflows and position content in the 3D map, or build their own content management tools/systems on top of the Visualix solution. The Augmented Reality Cloud provides the computing power and stores the 3D maps in order to allow enterprises to use existing mobile devices.
“Our goal is to give enterprises a tool to easily map their physical environment with available mobile phones and tablets within minutes. Our clients can use the visual maps to precisely localize and track their assets and equipment without any specialized knowledge”, explains Visualix CEO and co-founder Darius Pajouh and adds: “Our customers don’t need any beacons or markers to localize the position or navigate through a large-scale environment. We can precisely define where the user is and offer a scalable solution that is focused on enterprise needs”.
The Visualix Mapping and Positioning System is available for mobile phones and tablets running on Android or iOS devices, and builds on top of Apple’s ARKit and Google’s ARCore to expand their capabilities with a server-side enabled computation for extended mapping and localization range. Localization with the provided AR Cloud doesn’t need beacons, RFID chips or markers. It can be implemented in robots, drones or used on mobile phones.
Visualix received seed funding earlier this year from innogy Innovation Hub, an affiliate of innogy SE. innogy Innovation Hub provides funding, mentoring and a co-creation platform for technologies and businesses that have the potential to redefine the energy market of the future. To date it has supported over 80 companies and created a portfolio valued at €150 million.
“We look to invest in innovative new companies and technologies that change how we live and work,” said Alina Prawdzik, Head of “Smart & Connected” at innogyInnovation Hub. “Visualix’s augmented reality technology not only improves efficiency workflows in the logistics and warehousing industry, but has the potential to drive automation. As such, it’s a great fit for innogy Innovation Hub and we are excited by the potential for this technology.”
