Web Security Startup PATRONUS.IO schliesst neue Finanzierungsrunde ab

  • Fresh capital for Web Security startup patronus.io
  • innogy Innovation Hub and Rotonda Investor Office join patronus.io at Web Security startup

Berlin, 08.05.2018 | Highly professionally organized and monetarily driven hacker bands move through the Web. They cost the world economy billions of euros every year with their attacks. The Berlin-based Web Security startup patronus.io has developed a software solution that also gives IT outsiders the opportunity to proactively protect themselves against hacker attacks on their websites and online shops. But the startup gets fresh capital from well-known investors.

Small and medium-sized enterprises in particular can not efficiently defend themselves against hacker attacks on their websites and online shops due to a lack of know-how and resources, ie the most important interface between companies and their customers in the digital age. This should come to an end with patronus.io’s “Web Security Suite”.

Easy to use through automation and compliance with the GDPR

The patronus.io software fully automatically tests a website for vulnerabilities and examines the source code for programming errors and malicious programs. By means of regular penetration tests, patronus.io’s customers also fulfill the obligatory technical measures, the General Data Protection Regulation (DSGVO), which will come into effect from May 2018 throughout Europe.

In addition to the existing investor and company builder “Rheingau Founders”, which has once again significantly increased its investment, the innogy Innovation Hub and the Rotonda Investor Office are two other investors in the seven-figure financing round.

SMEs help protect against hacker attacks

“Our goal is to offer a simple and affordable solution especially for small and medium-sized businesses, so that they are finally no longer vulnerable to hacker attacks. For this, we have gained two excellent new partners with the innogy Innovation Hub and Rotonda, who bring with them the necessary awareness and understanding of the upcoming challenges in cyber security “, says patronus.io founder and CEO Matthias Friese.

Christof Kortz, Head of Cyber Ventures at the innogy Innovation Hub underlines the importance of the topic: “Cyber Security is one of the focal themes and most exciting areas of investment for the innogy Innovation Hub. The higher the level of digitization, the greater the need to protect against cyber attacks. This applies in particular to the design of the future decentralized and digital energy system. The founders of patronus.io have understood that in the digital age, securing this key digital interface between businesses and consumers is one of the biggest challenges of any successful business. “

The possibilities for patronus.io are described by Jens Altmann (CTO): “In the financing round we were able to convince technology partners of our software, who support and support us in the implementation of our visions. This will allow us to open up new customer segments and expand our technology for other businesses. “

“The team and the unique technology convinced us in the early stages. Thanks to the new on-board resources, we can now systematically expand the product as well as the sales department, “explains Rheingau Founders partner Philipp Hartmann.
